Scholarships
The Ron Clifton Memorial Scholarship
The Advertising Federation of Charleston invites you to apply for The Ron Clifton Memorial Scholarship.
Ron Clifton was a long-time member of Ad Fed and extremely active until his untimely death of Lung Cancer in 1994. Not only did he serve as president of the club, he also participated in Third District activities. Well known for creating outstanding and award-winning radio commercials, Ron had a crazy sense of humor and was a true friend to all who knew him. No doubt he finds it humorous that his name is attached to something as prestigious as the Ad Fed scholarship. Those of us who knew him find it very fitting as he encouraged excellence in advertising and was always glad to share his expertise with others.
This scholarship is awarded annually at the discretion of the Advertising Federation of Charleston Scholarship Selection Committee. The purpose of this scholarship is to increase the opportunities available to students who may one day aid in shaping the advertising/marketing field in the Trident area.
Recipient must be:
- A resident of Charleston, Berkeley, or Dorchester counties.
- A rising junior or senior at an accredited four-year college or university
- Majoring or studying with an emphasis on advertising, communications, marketing or graphic arts.
- A sense of humor is also essential, as Ron would not wish this scholarship to be awarded to a sourpuss.
This application must be accompanied by the following:
- A personal letter outlining your educational and vocational aims and your need for a scholarship at this time.
- A list of extracurricular activities and organizations.
- A minimum of two letters of recommendation.
- A complete official transcript.
Deadline: March 31st
