Lyn Mettler (Social Media)
Lyn Mettler is founder and co-owner of Step Ahead, Inc., where she serves as vice president of public relations and social media. The company combines the power of traditional public relations with innovative social media campaigns to maximize visibility for clients both online and off. Mettler, who has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Entrepreneur magazine and on MSNBC.com regarding social media, has worked in public relations and journalism for the past 11 years with an interest in using the Web as a marketing and PR tool. Mettler is a self-described social media geek who regularly speaks on the topic across South Carolina. She is a featured blogger on TwitterMoms.com and was named to the Charleston Regional Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 list in 2009. When she’s not on Twitter, Facebook or blogging, she’s raising her two young sons who make sure she has plenty of time away from the computer. She lives with her husband and family in Mt. Pleasant.

Caroline Nuttall (Online Advertising)
Caroline Nuttall is the founder and publisher of CHARLIE Magazine, Charleston’s premier online magazine celebrating progressive culture in the city. Her background is in marketing and PR and she has served as the media relations manager at leading Charleston agency Rawle Murdy for the past four years. Prior to moving to Charleston, Nuttall was an entertainment publicist for both leading talent agency Baker Winokur Ryder and Paramount Pictures. Jared Smith (Search Engine Optimization)
Jared Smith is a Web designer and developer based in Charleston, S.C. He works for ReadWriteWeb (www.readwriteweb.com), one of the top Web tech blogs in the world and one of two tech blogs syndicated by The New York Times. Prior to joining ReadWriteWeb, Jared worked as a webmaster at the College of Charleston, where he was an integral member of the team that launched a major revamp of the College of Charleston website. Jared also serves on the steering committee of the Charleston chapter of Social Media Club, a national organization promoting good practice and ethics in social media, and stays involved with various efforts to strengthen the Charleston-area technology community.

A leader in brand research, planning, strategy and identity development, Ian Latham is an expert in corporate positioning, higher education, travel marketing, health care, franchise and system-based marketing, and the marketing and positioning of upscale brands.

Ian founded the brand strategy consulting firm Latham & Co. in Atlanta in 2001 after a worldwide management career with Ogilvy & Mather, the world’s leading brand-based advertising agency. He worked as a managing director, creative director and strategic planner in Ogilvy & Mather offices in Sydney, Australia; Milan, Italy; and Vienna, Austria; as well as in two Ogilvy & Mather offices in New York. His clients have included companies as large as American Express, Unilever and Kodak, and as diverse as Egleston Children’s Hospital in Atlanta, U.S. Centers for Disease Control, and the United States Virgin Islands.

He is a frequent contributor to national marketing publications, a blogger, and a practicing marketer. Dan is regularly invited to speak at regional and national marketing conferences, having recently presented at the 2009 National Forum on Customer Based Marketing Strategies and the 2008 Annual Conference of the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development. Dan was also the keynote speaker at the 2008 Fall Institute of the New England Society for Healthcare Communications. He has a master’s degree from Appalachian State University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
