Please e-mail your letters of nomination [the more details, the better] or direct any inquiries, to Jennifer Dease, at jdease@kiawahisland.com.

The American Advertising Federation’s Silver Medal Award Program was established in 1959 to recognize men and women who have made outstanding contributions to advertising and who have been active in furthering the industry’s standards, creative excellence and responsibility in areas of social concern. Annually, AAF member clubs, of which the Advertising Federation of Charleston is a member, bestow this honor upon outstanding members of the local advertising community.

For many local clubs, awarding the AAF Silver Medal enhances the image of advertising by recognizing a locally well-known person for their advertising and community involvement.

Silver Medal Award Criteria
the following areas of work: advertising agency, advertiser, media or advertising service

Contributions to the General Advancement of Advertising – The recipient must have
worked to increase the stature and raise the standards of the advertising profession.

Update on the Logo Competition

Ten brave souls submitted entries for our new look as AAF-Charleston. From safe and solid to whimsical and aquatic, these entries covered the spectrum. Check them out at adfedcharleston.com if you haven’t already and share your thoughts with us.

We’ve discussed and debated for the last several days, and while we have our favorites, we have not reached a consensus on which one suits us best.

Hmmmmmmm.

This indicates that perhaps we need to offer some specific details on who we are, what we do, and what our new logo should accomplish. Yes, this would have been helpful information when we started this — live and learn!

In that vein, we will not be revealing a winner at our meeting tonight. However, we will be putting together a brief detailing all of the above, sharing it with you, and opening up a second round of competition. Watch your Inbox and our website for details in the next few weeks.

Special thanks to everyone who submitted an entry in round 1 — we hope you’ll stay with us and submit in round 2.

Due to multiple requests received today, we are extending the deadline for our logo contest to Monday, September 14 at 10:00 AM. Procrastinators, get thee in gear!

To those of you who got your entry in on time, many thanks. Please feel free to use these extra days to your advantage and update your submission if you so desire. Just be sure to note that your new file is an updated version when you send it in.

And just to review, here’s the fine print:

logo must include the words AAF – Charleston

look can be entirely new, or include the current Adfed colors or icon (the head with flowers of genius sprouting from it).

submit a pdf of your final design to info@adfedcharleston.com by the above deadline.

Good luck!
